Cabernet Sauvignon - Bon Courage

Barrel-aged Cabernet Sauvignon from the Breede River Valley viticultural region shows bright purple in the glass. Held at a slight angle, a transition of color toward garnet red is evident at the edges of this barrel-aged wine. The bouquet of this Breede River Valley red wine seduces with nuances of plum, blueberry, blackberry and black cherry. If we trace the aromatics further, oriental spices, roasted almond and cocoa bean are added, encouraged by the oak influence.

The balanced fruit acidity flatters the Cabernet Sauvignon with a soft mouthfeel, without lacking juicy liveliness at the same time. In the finish, this well storable red wine from the Breede River Valley wine-growing region finally inspires with considerable length. Once again, hints of blackberry and blueberry show through.

Vinification of the Cabernet Sauvignon from Bon Courage

The basis for the balanced Cabernet Sauvignon from Breede River Valley are grapes from the grape variety Cabernet Sauvignon. At the time of optimal ripeness, the grapes for the Cabernet Sauvignon are harvested exclusively by hand without the help of coarse and less selective grape harvesters. After the harvest, the grapes are taken to the press house in the fastest possible way. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. This is followed by fermentation in small wood at controlled temperatures. At the end of fermentation, the Cabernet Sauvignon is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels.
