More information about Chardonnay Hemel-en-Aarde - Hamilton Russell
Hamilton Russell's Chardonnay from New Zealand's Walker Bay wine region in Cape South Coast is a varietally pure, complex and finessed white wine.
In the glass, this wine gleams golden yellow with sparkling highlights. The nose presents expressive aromas of juicy yellow fruit - peach in particular comes to the fore. On the palate, this South African white wine is characterized by nuances of pear and overripe quince. The Hamilton Russell Chardonnay is a dense, mineral wine with good length and great complexity. The acidity delicately complements the full body and adds freshness. One of the best Chardonnay from South Africa in the style of a great Burgundy.
Vinification of the The Hamilton Russell Chardonnay
The grapes come from the Hemel-en-Aarde site, where they grow on stony, clay-rich and slate soils.
Once the grapes arrive at the Hamilton Russell winery, the berries are prepared for fermentation. The fermentation process for this white wine takes place 95% in French barriques and 5% in foudre. The 9-month wood aging is also done in French oak barriques and foudre.
