Vinification of the Hochheimer Stein Pinot Noir from Weingut Künstler

This balanced red wine from Germany is made from the Pinot Noir grape variety. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in the Rheingau region. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into soils of loam, sand, loess, gravel and marl. Of course, Hochheimer Stein Spätburgunder is also determined by more than just the Hochheim soil. This German wine can be described as an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, with an exceptionally impressive presentation. The fact that the Spätburgunder grapes thrive under the influence of a rather cool climate also has an influence on the ripeness of the vintage that cannot be dismissed. This manifests itself, among other things, in particularly long and even grapes and rather moderate alcohol content in the wine. The grapes for this red wine from Germany, when perfectly ripe, are harvested exclusively by hand . After the harvest, the grapes reach the press house by the fastest route. Here they are sorted and carefully ground. Then fermentation takes place in large wood at controlled temperatures. After its end, the Hochheimer Stein Pinot Noir is aged for several months in large oak barrels.
