The barrel-aged Kadette Pinotage from the Western Cape wine-growing region presents itself in the glass with dense purple-red color. This varietal South African wine flatters the nose in the glass with wonderfully expressive notes of strawberries, plums and raspberries. Added to this are hints of vanilla.
This wine delights with its elegantly dry flavor profile. It was bottled with exceptionally little residual sugar. As one would expect from a wine in the high-quality category, this South African, despite all its dryness, enchants with the finest balance. After all, aroma does not necessarily require sugar. Powerful and multi-faceted, this silky red wine presents itself on the palate. On the finish, this youthful red wine from the Western Cape wine-growing region impresses with remarkable length. Once again, hints of raspberry and plum appear. In the aftertaste, mineral notes from the granite-dominated soils join in.
Vinification of the Kadette Pinotage from Kanonkop Estate
This powerful red wine from South Africa is made from the Pinotage grape variety. In the Western Cape, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on granite soils. After the harvest, the grapes are brought to the winery without delay. There they are sorted and gently crushed. This is followed by fermentation in small wooden barrels at controlled temperatures. After fermentation is complete, the powerful Kadette Pinotage is matured for another 12 months in French oak barrels.
