Liebfraumilch Schwarze Madonna Premium Edition - Hammel

With Liebfraumilch - Schwarze Madonna - Premium Edition, Christoph Hammel has finally given his modern classic a premium offshoot. The "Schwarze Madonna", as Hammel calls it, was vinified from Riesling, Müller Thurgau and Scheurebe, is slightly sweeter than semi-dry with its 20 grams of sugar and was also aged in large wooden barrels and small used barriques. 

Liebfraumilch - Schwarze Madonna comes into the glass with a bright straw yellow color and intense aromas of ripe vineyard peach, red gooseberries, super juicy mango and other tropical fruits. Nuances of sun-dried hay, rose petals and lemon balm complement the bouquet. On the palate, Liebfraumilch - Premium Edition from Hammel is wonderfully juicy, fresh and fantastically melting. The animating sweetness is contrasted by a fresh and vital acidity that carries the wine into a terrific finish.

Vinification of Hammel Liebfraumilch - Black Madonna - Premium Edition

For his premium Liebfraumilch, Christoph Hammel has perfectly matched the grape varieties Riesling , Müller-Thurgau and Scheurebe. The grapes grow on vines that are already 40 to 60 years old, which gives the fruit great expressiveness. After the cool fermentation, the Liebfraumilch Schwarze Madonna matures for 7 months in large wooden barrels on the full lees.
