More information about Malterdinger Chardonnay - Bernhard Huber
The Malterdinger Chardonnay from Bernhard Huber opens with an intense and concentrated, mineral-scented, very elegant and balanced nose of ripe and intensely aromatic Chardonnay with notes of pear, apple and melon, mixed with hints of crushed rock. Full-bodied, pure and fresh on the palate, with a crisp grip and salinity.
The Huber Malterdinger Chardonnay is an impressively characterful and persistent Chardonnay with serious substance and remarkable complexity. The acidity is finely grained, fresh and well integrated into the athletic body. The wine finishes still taut, but also intense and firmly structured, with characteristic iodine notes in the aftertaste. Still very young, the wine should be aged for at least another two or three years from vintage. An excellent wine at a reasonable price.
Vinification of the Malterdinger Chardonnay from Bernhard Huber
The wine is pressed as a whole bunch on a screw press, which gives it a light phenolic structure from the skins. Spontaneous fermentation and ageing take place entirely in barriques, with around 30 percent of the wood being new.
Recommendation for drinking the Malterdinger Chardonnay from Huber
Due to its pronounced structure, fine acidity and complex variety of aromas, this Chardonnay is an excellent accompaniment to sophisticated dishes. It is ideal with fish dishes, seafood or poultry. It can also be an excellent choice with creamy risottos or dishes with mushrooms. In order to exploit the wine's full potential, we recommend decanting it before drinking and serving it at a temperature of 10-12°C.
