More information about Sonpuig Crianza - Sonpuig
The powerful Sonpuig Crianza from the Sonpuig estate flows into the glass with a dense purple-red color. When the glass is tilted slightly, a transition of the wine color towards garnet red can be seen at the rim of this barrel-aged wine. When swirling the glass, this red wine reveals high viscosity, which is evident in pronounced church windows on the glass wall. This Spanish cuvée beguiles the glass with wonderfully complex notes of currant, blueberry, blackberry and plum. There are also hints of chocolate, blueberry and black cherry.
The Sonpuig Crianza from Sonpuig is ideal for all wine lovers who prefer it dry. At the same time, it never seems meager or austere, as one would naturally expect from a wine in the premium and single-vineyard segment. Powerful and complex, this silky and velvety red wine presents itself on the palate. Thanks to the moderate acidity, the Sonpuig Crianza caresses the palate with a pleasing mouthfeel, without sacrificing juicy liveliness. The finish of this matured red wine from the Balearic region, more precisely from Mallorca VT, finally convinces with a remarkable length. The aftertaste is also accompanied by mineral facets of the limestone-dominated soils.
Vinification of Sonpuig Sonpuig Crianza
The basis for the powerful Sonpuig Crianza from Spain is grapes from the Cabernet Sauvignon, Callet, Merlot and Tempranillo varieties. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in the Balearic Islands. Here the vines drive their roots deep into limestone soils. The wine grapes for this red wine from Spain are harvested exclusively by hand when they are perfectly ripe. After harvesting, the grapes are brought to the press house as quickly as possible. There they are selected and gently crushed. This is followed by fermentation in small oak barrels at controlled temperatures. After fermentation is complete, the powerful Sonpuig Crianza is matured for several more months in oak barrels.
