More information about The King's Bastard Chardonnay - Marisco

The powerful The King's Bastard Chardonnay from the house of Marisco enters the glass with a dense golden yellow color. This wine also shows golden yellow reflections in the core. Poured into a white wine glass, this white wine from New Zealand offers wonderfully expressive aromas of lemongrass, lime, acacia and orange blossom, rounded off by dark chocolate, black tea and oriental spices, which are contributed by the aging in wooden barrels.

On the palate, The King's Bastard Chardonnay from Marisco starts pleasantly dry, grippy and aromatic. There are dry and really dry. This white wine belongs to the latter, as it was bottled with only 0.8 grams of residual sugar. With its lively fruit acidity, The King's Bastard Chardonnay reveals itself to be fantastically fresh and lively on the palate.

Vinification of The King's Bastard Chardonnay from Marisco

The powerful The King's Bastard Chardonnay from New Zealand is a single-varietal wine made from the Chardonnay grape variety. The grapes grow close to rivers on New Zealand's South Island. The vines here dig their roots deep into soils of limestone. Due to the balancing influence of the nearby river, the grapes ripen more slowly and develop more aromatic complexity. The fact that the Chardonnay grapes thrive under the influence of a rather cool climate also has an influence on the development of the grapes that cannot be dismissed. This manifests itself, among other things, in particularly long and uniform grapes and rather moderate alcohol content in the wine. After harvesting, the grapes are quickly taken to the pressing house. Here they are selected and carefully broken up. This is followed by fermentation in small wood at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by aging for 10 months in new French wood.
