More information about Ultreia Valtuille DO - Raul Perez
The Ultreia Valtuille of Raul Perez is probably one of the most fascinating red wines, from the portfolio of the Spanish winemaker. This wine is vinified exclusively from Mencia and the grapes grow in the single vineyard Las Villegas in the Spanish wine-growing region DO Bierzo.
A rich ruby red with sparkling purple highlights shimmers in the glass of this wine. The complex bouquet reveals powerful aromas of ripe blackberries and juicy plums with subtle hints of peaches - perfectly underpinned by floral notes of violets and some tobacco. With finesse and delicacy this Spanish red wine spoils the palate. The body is wonderfully concentrated with a good structure and balanced texture. The distinctive tannins are very well integrated and accompany into the long finish.
Vinification of the Raul Perez Ultreia Valtuille
The single vineyard Las Villegas (about 1.1 ha) - west of Valtuille - was planted in 1908 and is located at an altitude of 530 meters above sea level. The soils are sandy and calcareous.
Exclusively by hand, the Mencia grapes are carefully harvested by hand. The harvest period is from September to October. Once the grapes arrive at Raul Perez's winery, they are first fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. This is followed by a long maceration of up to 90 days. Once this is completed, this wine rounds off harmoniously for 12 months in French oak barrels.
Food recommendation for the Ultreia Valtuille Raul Perez Las Villegas
This dry red wine from Spain is an unforgettable soloist on a cozy evening in front of the fireplace. Or serve this wine with fine saddle of wild boar, medium roasted pork tenderloin or even a Filet Wellington. We recommend decanting this wine for at least an hour before enjoying.
