The Oliver Zeter winery stands for expressive wines with a clear style and precise fruit. The wines show great depth, fine acidity and a distinctive signature.

Oliver Zeter Winery – Origin and the Palatinate Region

The Oliver Zeter winery is located in the Palatinate near Neustadt an der Weinstraße and makes use of the warm conditions of this region to produce ripe and dense grapes.

The proximity to the Haardt protects the vineyards from cool winds and heavy rain, creating a mild climate with plenty of sunshine.

The soils consist of limestone, loam and sandstone, shaping the wines with power, fine minerality and clear expression.

Oliver Zeter Winery – Terroir and Maturation

The sites of the Oliver Zeter winery offer a great variety of soil types, each individually shaping the grape varieties and sharpening their profile.

Maturation takes place in stainless steel, wooden casks and also in amphorae, resulting in multi-layered aromas and fine structure.

The wines show clear fruit, precise acidity and good balance that clearly express the character of the site.

Things to know about Weingut Oliver Zeter
What’s the story behind the striking bear on the labels?
The bear is no coincidence, but an heirloom. It comes from the pen of Oliver Zeter’s great-grandfather Walter Baer, a well-known graphic artist. In the 1920s he sent the bear illustrations as postcard greetings to his friends. Today, the bear is the unmistakable trademark and a homage to the family history.
Why is Zeter considered Germany’s “Sauvignon Blanc Pope”?
When Oliver Zeter started in 2007, Sauvignon Blanc was still a niche topic in the Pfalz. He went all in on this card and developed it in various styles – from classic stainless steel to the smoky “Fumé” aged in wood. In doing so, he proved that the Pfalz can easily keep up with the great role models from the Loire Valley or New Zealand.
Does the winery only produce white wines?
By no means. Although the white wines (especially Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling) are in the spotlight, Zeter has a great passion for Francophile red wines. His “Z” – a cuvée of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Syrah – demonstrates impressively that he also ranks among the German elite when it comes to powerful, structured red wines.
What makes winemaking at Zeter so special?
Zeter combines the craftsmanship of a winemaker with the intuition of a former wine merchant. For his top wines, he often uses unconventional methods, such as fermentation in amphorae or the use of concrete eggs. The goal is never an end in itself, but maximum precision and a lively drinking flow (“vinosity”).
