Vinification of the Oliver Zeter Riesling Saumagen Kallstadt
The balanced Riesling Saumagen Kallstadt from Germany is a single varietal wine, pressed from the Riesling grape variety. In the Palatinate region, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of clay, limestone, loess and marl. Riesling Saumagen Kallstadt is an Old World wine through and through, as this German wine exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines. The fact that Riesling grapes thrive under the influence of a rather cool climate also has a very high influence on the ripening of the vintage. This manifests itself, among other things, in particularly long and even grapes and rather moderate alcohol content in the wine. After the grape harvest, the grapes reach the press house by the fastest route. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. Then fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks and large wood at controlled temperatures. After its end, the Riesling Saumagen Kallstadt is aged for a few more months in 1200-liter oak barrels.
