More information about Petz Rotweincuvée - Oliver Zeter
The red Cuvée Petz from Oliver Zeter comes into the glass with a bright purple color and reveals here complex aromas of black currants, ripe sour cherries and aromatic plums. Spicy notes of smoked bacon, black pepper and Mediterranean herbs such as thyme complement the bouquet of the Oliver Zeter Petz.
On the palate, the Petz proves to be wonderfully fleshy, velvety, fruit-driven and powerful. An impressive addition to the Zeter portfolio between the base red wine Tapps Red and the Cuvée Z.
The drinkable bear with human features on the wine labels was penned by a Palatine artist who dedicated it to his friend Walter Baer, Oliver Zeter's great-grandfather, in the 1930s.
Vinfication of the Petz Oliver Zeter
The grapes for the "Petz" come from vineyards around the Palatine villages of Hambach, Maikammer and Edenkoben. Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon make up the largest portion, with some Saint Laurent and a small amount of Dornfelder completing the cuvée. The Dornfelder comes from a vineyard with 20-year-old vines, which produces very low yields and extremely fine grapes. The grapes are open fermented in the traditional way, followed by a maceration of several weeks. Only then is the mash gently pressed and the young wine is placed in used French oak barrels. The different types of wine are aged and stored separately for a period of 10 months. Only after aging is the cuvée formed and bottled without fining and filtration.
