The Wine Enthusiast developed from the trading company in 1988. Today, it reaches around 800,000 readers per issue. In addition to 100-point ratings, Wine Enthusiast hosts the annual Wine Star Awards Dinner, where awards are presented in ten major industry categories.

The Wine Enthusiast from New York

Selling wine accessories was probably not enough for Adam and Sybil Strum. So in 1988, they added the magazine as an extension of the Wine Enthusiast Company. Today, the monthly trade magazine is one of the largest and most important publications dealing with wine and spirits. Over the years, the multimedia offerings grew to include a website, podcast and buyer's guide, making Wine Enthusiast a premier source of information and inspiration.

The Magazine & Winemag.com

Wine Enthusiast - the self-proclaimed most influential voice in wine and drinks - brings together stories, perspectives, insights around wine and its culture. The magazine and digital presence winemag.com indulges in the lifestyle through the bottle glass, also looks at what's happening behind the wine. Wine Enthusiast tells about the people, local cuisine and travel destinations, mostly far from the mainstream. In addition, Wine Enthusiast offers a wide range of knowledge and entertaining education about wine as well as spirits. In doing so, the magazine recognizes its responsibility. As such, Wine Enthusiast aims not only to lead the conversation, but also to have a social, sustainable and inclusive impact.

Wine Enthusiast rates wines

The heart of Wine Enthusiast is undoubtedly its wine ratings. Each year, more than 25,000 wines in every price range are blind tasted by the global network of writers and testers. A rating scale of 80 to 100 points is used. Wines below 80 points are not recommended by Wine Enthusiast. A subscription is required to access the associated expert opinions on Wine Enthusiast's digital extended arm.
