The Grüner Veltliner Retter Hammel dry from Weingut Hammel in the Palatinate is a fresh white wine with an intense bouquet typical of the variety. Pale yellow in the glass, it presents itself with fruity aromas of citrus and peach and spicy nuances reminiscent of pepper and tobacco. On the palate, the aging "sur lie" condenses the aromas and the wine appears round and yet fresh until the long reverberation. A Palatinate Grüner Veltliner with aging potential.
Vinification of the Grüner Veltliner von Hammel
Produced purely from Grüner Veltliner, this dry white wine from the Hammel winery is fermented at 25% and matured in double-piece Palatinate Johanniskreu oak with weekly batonnage. Also fermented with the Viennese Nussberg yeast of Fritz Wieninger from Vienna. 75% of the wine was aged in steel.
The idea for the wine came from the friendly connection between Christoph Hammel and the well-known Austrian sommelier and restaurateur Gerhard Retter.
