More information about Bideona Villabuena Tinto - Bodega Bideona
The Bideona Villabuena Tinto from the house of Bodega Bideona in Rioja reveals a dense, ruby-red color in the wine glass. If you tilt the glass slightly, you can see the color of this barrel-aged wine shifting towards garnet red at the rims. After the first swirl, this red wine reveals high density and richness, which shows in distinct “church windows” on the inside of the glass. The bouquet of this red wine from Rioja delights with notes of blackberry and plum. Following the aromas further, leather and blackcurrant join in.
On the palate, Bodega Bideona’s Bideona Villabuena Tinto opens wonderfully aromatic, fruit-driven and balanced. Some wines are labeled dry, others truly are. This red wine belongs to the latter group, as it was bottled with only 2.2 g of residual sugar. On the tongue, this powerful red wine is characterized by an incredibly velvety, melting texture. Thanks to its well-balanced acidity, Bideona Villabuena Tinto caresses the palate with a pleasing mouthfeel, without sacrificing juicy liveliness. The finish of this matured red wine from the Rioja region ultimately impresses with considerable length. The aftertaste is also accompanied by mineral nuances from the limestone-dominated soils.
Vinification of Bodega Bideona Bideona Villabuena Tinto
The basis for the powerful Bideona Villabuena Tinto from Rioja is grapes of the Tempranillo variety. In Rioja, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on limestone soils. When they are perfectly ripe, the grapes for Bideona Villabuena Tinto are harvested exclusively by hand, without the use of coarse and barely selective mechanical harvesters. After hand-picking, the grapes are immediately brought to the press house, where they are sorted and gently crushed. Fermentation then takes place in large wooden and stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Once fermentation is complete, Bideona Villabuena Tinto can continue to harmonize for several months on the fine lees.
