More information about Illmitzer Spätlese - Angerhof Tschida

Illmitzer Spätlese from the wine-growing region of Burgenland reveals itself in the glass in brilliant shimmering light yellow. This single-varietal Austrian wine reveals wonderfully expressive notes of star fruit, quince, nashi pear and papayas in the glass. These are joined by hints of forest floor and sun-warmed rock.

Illmitzer Spätlese can be described as exceptionally fruit-driven and velvety, having been vinified with a wonderfully sweet flavor profile. Light-footed and multi-layered, this silky dessert wine presents itself on the palate. Due to its present fruit acidity, the Illmitzer Spätlese reveals itself impressively fresh and lively on the palate. In the finish, this well storable dessert wine from the wine-growing region of Burgenland finally inspires with good length. Once again, hints of mango and quince show through. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the soils dominated by black earth and sand join in.

Vinification of the Illmitzer Spätlese from Angerhof Tschida

This wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, and that is Scheurebe. Only the best grapes were harvested for this wonderfully elegant varietal wine from Angerhof Tschida. In Burgenland, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of sand and black earth. After the hand harvest, the grapes reach the press house by the fastest route. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. The fermentation is followed by a few months of aging on the fine lees before the wine is finally bottled.

Food recommendation for Angerhof Tschida Illmitzer Spätlese

This Austrian wine is best enjoyed moderately chilled at 11 - 13°C. It is perfect as an accompanying wine to potato pan with salmon, cod with cucumber-mustard vegetables or chickpea curry.
