More information about Merlot Doppelstück trocken - Weingut Manz
The Merlot Doppelstück from Weingut Manz in Rheinhessen reveals a dense, crimson color in the glass. This single varietal German wine shows wonderfully expressive notes of blueberries, mulberries, blackberries and black currants in the glass. These are joined by hints of toasted barrique, cigar box and gingerbread spice.
This dry red wine from Weingut Manz is for purists who like it absolutely dry. The Merlot Doppelstück already comes quite close to this, as it was pressed with just 3.5 grams of residual sugar. On the palate, the texture of this powerful red wine is wonderfully dense. Due to the moderate fruit acidity, the Merlot Doppelstück flatters with a velvety mouthfeel, without at the same time lacking in juicy liveliness. In the finish, this wine from the wine-growing region of Rheinhessen finally inspires with good length. There are again hints of black currant and mulberry. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the limestone-dominated soils join in.
Vinification of the Merlot Doppelstück from Manz Winery
The basis for the powerful Merlot Doppelstück from Rheinhessen are grapes from the grape variety Merlot. In Rheinhessen, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of limestone. After the grape harvest, the grapes quickly reach the winery. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. Fermentation follows in large wood at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by aging for several months in oak barrels.
