Vinification of the Winery Manz Oppenheimer Herrenberg *** Merlot

This powerful red wine from Germany is vinified from the Merlot grape variety. In Rheinhessen, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of limestone and marl. The fact that the Merlot grapes thrive under the influence of a rather cool climate also has a considerable influence on the ripening of the grapes. This results, among other things, in particularly long and uniform grapes and rather moderate alcohol content in the wine. After the hand harvest, the grapes reach the winery by the fastest route. Here they are selected and carefully milled. Then fermentation takes place in small wood at controlled temperatures. After fermentation is complete, the Oppenheimer Herrenberg *** Merlot is aged for several months in oak barrels.

Food recommendation for the Winery Manz Oppenheimer Herrenberg *** Merlot

Experience this red wine from Germany best tempered at 15 - 18°C as an accompanying wine to duck breast with sugar snap peas, veal boiled fillet with beans and tomatoes or lamb stew with chickpeas and dried figs.
