More information about Merlot trocken - Bretz

In the glass, the Merlot from the hand of Bretz offers a bright purple-red color. The bouquet of this red wine from Rheinhessen delights with aromas of black cherry, plum, morello cherry and damson. Following the aromatics further, notes of oak, cigar box and toasted barrique are added, enhanced by the influence of oak wood.

The Bretz Merlot captivates with its elegantly dry flavor profile. It was bottled with exceptionally little residual sugar. This is a genuine quality wine that clearly stands out from simpler qualities and thus, despite all its dryness, this German wine enchants with the finest balance. Flavor does not necessarily require a lot of sugar. On the palate, this well-balanced red wine is characterized by an extremely velvety texture. On the finish, this youthful wine from the Rheinhessen wine-growing region finally thrills with a beautiful length. Once again, hints of morello cherry and black cherry appear. In the aftertaste, mineral notes from the marl- and sand-dominated soils join in.

Vinification of the Bretz Merlot

This balanced red wine from Germany is made from the Merlot grape variety. In Rheinhessen, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of sand and marl. After hand-picking, the grapes are brought to the press house as quickly as possible. There they are selected and gently crushed. This is followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. After fermentation is complete, the Merlot can continue to harmonize on the fine lees for a few months. After the wine has been finished, the Merlot is carefully harmonized.

Food recommendation for the Bretz Merlot

Ideally, enjoy this red wine from Germany at a temperature of 15 - 18°C as an accompanying wine to braised chicken in red wine, ossobuco or spaghetti with caper-tomato sauce.
