More information about Ursprung trocken 1,5 l Magnum - Markus Schneider
The Ursprung trocken by Markus Schneider is not called that without reason. This red wine from Ellerstadt brings together, with Portugieser and international classics such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, two components in the bottle that have defined Markus Schneider’s work from the very beginning. Firstly, the estate’s old Portugieser vines, and secondly, his love for the red grape varieties of France.
Schneider’s Ursprung enters the glass with a purple-red color and ruby-red reflections. The bouquet initially shows above all blackberries, blackcurrant and a touch of elderberry. Herbal notes and hints of forest floor, as well as a hint of chocolate, eventually join in.
On the palate, Schneider Ursprung is wonderfully velvety, juicy and round. Tannins and acidity clearly subordinate themselves to the fruity aromatics and pass the ball to each other with precision. The finish is long and multi-faceted.
Vinification of Schneider Ursprung trocken
The grapes for Ursprung come from the large site Feuerberg, whose soil is dominated primarily by gravel, sand and gravelly scree. After harvest, the grapes—depending on the vintage Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Portugieser in varying proportions—are fermented for 2–4 weeks in red-wine fermenters. Afterwards, Schneider Ursprung is racked off unrefined and matured three-quarters in stainless steel tanks and one-quarter in used French barrels.
