The light-footed Riesling from the house of Wagner-Stempel flows into the glass with a brilliant light yellow. The bouquet of this white wine from Rheinhessen impresses with notes of apple, Nashi pear, pink grapefruit and vineyard peach. As we follow the aromatics further, forest floor and sun-warmed rock appear.
This dry white wine from Wagner-Stempel is for wine lovers who would ideally like 0.0 grams of sugar in their wine. This Riesling comes quite close to that, having been vinified with just 3.2 grams of residual sugar. On the tongue, this light-footed white wine is characterized by an incredibly crisp texture. Thanks to its lively fruit acidity, the Riesling presents itself on the palate as wonderfully fresh and vibrant. On the finish, this wine from the Rheinhessen wine-growing region delights with good length. Once again, nuances of nectarine and kumquat become apparent. In the aftertaste, mineral notes from the soils dominated by weathered rock and clay join in.
Vinification of the Wagner-Stempel Riesling
The basis for this elegant Riesling from Rheinhessen is grapes of the Riesling variety. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Rheinhessen. Here, the vines sink their roots deep into soils of clay, sand and weathered rock. When they are perfectly ripe, the grapes for the Riesling are harvested exclusively by hand, without the aid of coarse and less selective machinery. After the hand harvest, the grapes are brought immediately to the winery. There they are selected and gently crushed. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks and small wooden barrels at controlled temperatures. After the end of fermentation, the Riesling can continue to harmonize for several months on the fine lees.
