The Antonio Argiolas 100 Isola dei Nuraghi Rosso IGT from Argiolas is a sweet sensation. In the glass, it shines in an elegant garnet red, with ruby red reflections at the edge of the glass, already here the wine shows an impressive density. The nose reveals complex and ripe aromas of dried rose petals, black cherry jam, preserved blueberries and dried plums, framed by nuances of sweet oriental spices and warm balsamic notes.
On the palate, the Antonio 100 presents a great structure, pleasing tannins and light spice, pleasantly fresh, the texture is decidedly soft and velvety. Alcohol and sweetness complement each other, elegant, not forward, a harmonious interplay right into the seemingly endless aromatic finish.

Vinification of the Antonio Argiolas 100 Isola dei Nuraghi IGT from Argiolas

For the Antonio 100, 95% Cannonau and 5% Malvasia Nera were vinified together, which grow on the hills around Serdiana at an altitude of around 200 meters above sea level, the vines are trained in traditional small trees, the soils are loose and well calcareous, a prerequisite for fine and long-lasting wines. The grapes are harvested very selectively by hand when they are completely dry on the plant. After an extremely gentle pressing, the skins macerate in the must, fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 18 to 20°C, followed by ageing for a period of 12 to 15 months in small French oak barrels.

Only 3000 bottles are produced per vintage year

This special sweet red wine from Argiolas is a passito that was created in 2006 in honor of the 100th birthday of the founder of the winery, who himself passed away at the ripe old age of 102. A wine rich in personality and with a very long life expectancy. Not many people know that Sardinia belongs to the so-called Blue Zone, just like Okinawa in Japan, Icaria in Greece, Loma Linda in California and Nicoya in Costa Rica, where a high proportion of centenarians live and people generally have a very high life expectancy.
