More information about Geistreich - Triebaumer
In the glass, Geistreich from the house of Triebaumer shows a dense golden-yellow color. When the wine glass is swirled, this dessert wine reveals high viscosity, which can be seen in the church windows on the rim of the glass. Poured into a dessert wine glass, this Old World dessert wine displays wonderfully expressive aromas of apple, lemon, mirabelle plum, and pear, rounded off by cocoa, wild berries, and black cherry contributed by the barrel aging.
The powerful Triebaumer Geistreich presents an incredibly fruity taste on the palate, which is of course also due to its residually sweet flavor profile. On the tongue, this intense dessert wine is characterized by an exceedingly velvety and dense texture. Thanks to its present acidity, Geistreich appears wonderfully fresh and lively on the palate. The finish of this highly age-worthy dessert wine from the wine-growing region of Burgenland, more precisely from Leithaberg / Neusiedlersee-Hügelland, finally impresses with a good aftertaste.
Vinification of Triebaumer Geistreich
The powerful Geistreich from Austria is a cuvée, vinified from the grape varieties Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah. Without question, Geistreich is also shaped by the climate and viticultural style of Leithaberg / Neusiedlersee-Hügelland. This Austrian can, in the truest sense of the word, be described as an Old World wine that presents itself in an exceptionally impressive manner. The fact that the Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah grapes thrive under the influence of a rather cool climate also has a considerable influence on the development of the harvested fruit. This is expressed, among other things, in particularly long and evenly ripened grapes and a rather moderate alcohol content in the wine. At the point of optimal ripeness, the grapes for Geistreich are harvested exclusively by hand, without the use of strenuous and less selective mechanical harvesters. After the grape harvest, the grapes are immediately brought to the winery. There they are sorted and gently crushed. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks and small wooden barrels at controlled temperatures. The vinification is followed by maturation for several months in barriques made of oak.
