More information about Grauburgunder Kalkstein trocken - Weingut Manz
The Pinot Gris Limestone from Weingut Manz in Rheinhessen presents a bright, copper-gold color in the wine glass. This single-varietal German wine reveals wonderfully expressive notes of quince, apples, pears and nashi pear in the glass. These are joined by hints of sun-warmed rock and forest floor.
This wine delights with its elegantly dry flavor. It was bottled with only 3.9 grams of residual sugar. This is a true quality wine that clearly stands out from simpler qualities and so this German wine naturally enraptures with the finest balance despite all its dryness. Excellent taste does not necessarily require a lot of residual sugar. Balanced and multifaceted, this dense white wine presents itself on the palate. Due to the balanced fruit acidity, the Pinot Gris limestone flatters with a velvety mouthfeel, without lacking juicy liveliness. In the finish, this wine from the wine-growing region of Rheinhessen finally inspires with considerable length. There are again hints of pear and quince. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the limestone and marl dominated soils are added.
Vinification of the Pinot Gris Limestone from Manz Winery
The basis for the balanced Pinot Gris Limestone from Rheinhessen are grapes from the grape variety Pinot Gris. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Rheinhessen. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into soils of limestone and marl. After harvesting, the grapes are quickly taken to the pressing house. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. Fermentation follows in large wood at controlled temperatures. After the end of fermentation, the Pinot Gris Limestone is aged for several months in oak barrels.
Food recommendation for the Pinot Gris Limestone from Manz Winery
