On the finish, this youthful wine from the Pfalz wine-growing region finally impresses with good length. Hints of pear and ripe apple once again appear. In the aftertaste, mineral notes from the marl and limestone-dominated soils join in.
Vinification of Weingut Wageck Pfaffmann Grauer Burgunder Fundament
The balanced Grauer Burgunder Fundament from Germany is a varietal wine, vinified from the Grauburgunder grape variety. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in the Pfalz. Here, the vines sink their roots deep into soils of limestone, clay, and marl. After hand-picking, the grapes are brought to the press house as quickly as possible. There they are sorted and gently crushed. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks and large wooden casks at controlled temperatures. Vinification is followed by several months of aging on the fine lees before the wine is finally bottled.
