More information about Grauer Burgunder Fundament - Weingut Wageck Pfaffmann

The Grauer Burgunder Fundament matured in barrel from the wine-growing region of the Pfalz presents itself in the glass in a radiant copper-gold. The bouquet of this white wine from the Pfalz impresses with nuances of ripe apple and pear. As we pursue the aromatics further, mineral notes also emerge.

The Weingut Wageck Pfaffmann Grauer Burgunder Fundament delights with its elegantly dry taste profile. It was bottled with exceptionally little residual sugar. This is a genuine quality wine that clearly stands out from simpler qualities and, despite all its dryness, this German wine captivates with the finest balance. Flavor does not necessarily require a lot of residual sugar. On the palate, this well-balanced white wine is characterized by an incredibly light texture. On the finish, this youthful wine from the Pfalz wine-growing region finally impresses with good length. Hints of pear and ripe apple once again appear. In the aftertaste, mineral notes from the marl and limestone-dominated soils join in.

Vinification of Weingut Wageck Pfaffmann Grauer Burgunder Fundament

The balanced Grauer Burgunder Fundament from Germany is a varietal wine, vinified from the Grauburgunder grape variety. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in the Pfalz. Here, the vines sink their roots deep into soils of limestone, clay, and marl. After hand-picking, the grapes are brought to the press house as quickly as possible. There they are sorted and gently crushed. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks and large wooden casks at controlled temperatures. Vinification is followed by several months of aging on the fine lees before the wine is finally bottled.

Food recommendation for Weingut Wageck Pfaffmann Grauer Burgunder Fundament

This white wine from Germany is best enjoyed moderately chilled at 11 - 13°C. It pairs perfectly as an accompanying wine with fruity endive salad, coconut-lime fish curry, or vegetable salad with beetroot.
