More information about Iselis Bianco Nasco di Cagliari DOC - Argiolas

The Iselis bianco Nasco di Cagliari DOC from Argiolas is a modern, dry wine made from a very old grape variety that was brought to Sardinia by the Phoenician seafarers.

The Iselis Nasco DOC shines straw yellow in the glass, with aromas reminiscent of yellow flowers and yellow fruit, broom and melon on the nose. On the palate, this white wine is of beautiful finesse, generous, full-bodied, inviting and not easily forgotten, fresh and round, with a creamy texture. Hints of marzipan and delicate bitter almond notes in the long finish.

Vinification of the Iselis bianco Nasco di Cagliari DOC from Argiolas

The grapes for this Sardinian white wine grow in a small vineyard, Iselis, between olive trees, a salty inland lake and a small romantic country church, near Serdiana, in the hinterland of the Gulf of Cagliari in the south of the island.

Normally, the Nasco grape variety is vinified sweet, but Argiolas has opted for dry vinification. To achieve this, the harvest is brought forward one month and 85% Nasco and 15% Vermentino are vinified together. After the harvest, very gentle pressing and natural decanting, the wine is matured for 60 days on the fine lees, with a small proportion maturing in French barriques. A resting period in the bottle ensures harmonization and rounds off the wine.

A new project of the Argiolas family, a place where dreams and hopes can unfold, is the "Progetto Iselis". Two wines are produced in a specially selected location, a white and a red from autochthonous Sardinian grape varieties. The very old Nasco grape variety, which dates back to the time of the ancient seafaring Phoenicians, was selected for the white wine, while the Monica grape variety was chosen for the red. A poet friend of the family designed the labels for the bottles. The proceeds will be used to support humanitarian projects where help is needed most.

Wine recommendation for the Iselis bianco Nasco di Cagliari DOC from Argiolas

A refined, tasty white wine from Sardinia, ideal with typical island dishes from land and sea, such as starters with fish, risotto with artichokes, white meat and medium-aged cheeses.
