More information about Lagrein Riserva Castel Ringberg DOC - Elena Walch

The elegant Lagrein Riserva Castel Ringberg from Elena Walch shines bright purple red in the glass. If you tilt the glass slightly, you can see a transition of the wine's color towards garnet red at the edges of this barrel-aged wine. After the first swirl, you can perceive a first-class balance in this red wine, as it is neither watery nor syrupy or liqueur-like on the glass walls. Poured into a Bordeaux glass, this red wine from Italy offers wonderfully expressive aromas of plum, damson, blueberry and black cherry, rounded off with gingerbread spice, black bread and air-dried ham, which are contributed by the ageing in wooden barrels.

This wine impresses with its elegantly dry taste. It was bottled with just 2.2 grams of residual sugar. This is a genuine quality wine that clearly stands out from simpler qualities and so, despite its dryness, this Italian naturally delights with the finest balance. Excellent taste does not necessarily need sugar. Thanks to its balanced fruit acidity, the Lagrein Riserva Castel Ringberg flatters the palate with a pleasing sensation without lacking freshness. On the finish, this mature red wine from the Trentino-Alto Adige wine-growing region impresses with its considerable length. Once again, there are hints of blueberry and blackcurrant. In the finish, mineral notes from the limestone and sand-dominated soils are added.

Vinification of the Elena Walch Lagrein Riserva Castel Ringberg

This balanced red wine from Italy is made from the Lagrein grape variety. The vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on sand and limestone soils in Trentino-Alto Adige. After being harvested by hand, the grapes are quickly transported to the winery. Here they are selected and carefully broken up. This is followed by fermentation in small oak barrels at controlled temperatures. The fermentation is followed by maturation on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally bottled.

Recommendation for Elena Walch Lagrein Riserva Castel Ringberg

This red wine from Italy is best enjoyed at a temperature of 15 - 18°C with roast veal liver with apples, onions and balsamic vinegar sauce, stuffed peppers or vegetable couscous with beef rissoles.
