More information about Lagrein Riserva Castel Ringberg DOC - Elena Walch

The elegant Lagrein Riserva Castel Ringberg from Elena Walch shines with a luminous ruby red in the glass. When tilting the glass slightly, a transition of the wine color towards garnet red is noticeable along the edges of this barrel-aged wine. After the first swirl, one can perceive a first-class balance in this red wine, as it does not appear watery or syrupy or liqueur-like at the glass walls. Poured into a Bordeaux glass, this Italian red wine offers wonderfully expressive aromas of plum, damson, blueberry, and black cherry, rounded off with gingerbread spices, black bread, and air-dried ham, which the maturation in oak barrels contributes.

This wine impresses with its elegantly dry taste profile. It was bottled with only 2.2 grams of residual sugar. This is a true quality wine that clearly stands out from simpler qualities, and thus this Italian wine, despite its dryness, captivates with the finest balance. Excellent taste does not necessarily require sugar. Thanks to its balanced acidity, Lagrein Riserva Castel Ringberg caresses the palate with a pleasant sensation, without lacking freshness. In the finish, this matured red from the Trentino-Alto Adige wine region impresses with remarkable length. Again, notes of blueberry and blackcurrant appear. In the aftertaste, mineral notes from the limestone- and sand-dominated soils also join in.

Vinification of Elena Walch Lagrein Riserva Castel Ringberg

This balanced red wine from Italy is made from the Lagrein grape variety. In Trentino-Alto Adige, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of sand and limestone. After manual harvesting, the grapes are quickly transported to the winery. Here, they are sorted and gently crushed. This is followed by fermentation in small wooden tanks at controlled temperatures. The fermentation is followed by a maturation of several months on fine lees before the wine is finally bottled.

Food pairing recommendations for Elena Walch Lagrein Riserva Castel Ringberg

For the best experience, serve this Italian red wine at 15 - 18°C as an accompaniment to roasted calf's liver with apples, onions, and balsamic sauce, stuffed peppers, or vegetable couscous with beef patties.
