The Marchese di Villamarina Alghero DOC by Sella & Mosca appears in the glass in an intense ruby red and spreads its intense and persistent bouquet with the notes of red berries, which are accompanied by vanilla and other spicy nuances.
Warm nuances of hay can be seen on the palate, in harmony with the aroma of Tronçais oak, which is formed by the long finishing in small barrels of this wood.
Vinification of the Marchese di Villamarina by Sella & Mosca
Alghero DOC is located in the province of Sassari in the plain of Nurra, in northwestern Sardinia. The climate of the island is Mediterranean with lots of sunshine. The vines grow on limestone, clay and sandy soils rich in iron.
The grapes are destemmed, crushed and subjected to leaching at a temperature of 15° Celsius for 24 hours. The fermentation then begins at 20 ° Celsius and continues with an increasing heat curve of 28-30° Celsius. The fermentation time is about three weeks. This is followed by spontaneous biological acid degradation, followed by the first degradation phase, which takes place in small Tronçais oak Bordeaux barrels for approximately 14 months. This is followed by storage in traditional barrels with a larger volume for a further 12 months and subsequent bottling in dark cellars at a temperature of 16° Celsius for at least a further 18 months.
