Mormoreto Toscana IGT 2016 - Castello di Nipozzano
The Mormoreto Toscana IGT by Castello di Nipozzano of the Frescobaldi family is considered to be the best wine of the estate. It is named after the Mormoreto vineyard, which was redesigned in 1976 and since 1983 has produced this award-winning, opulent and long-lasting wine, which is only produced in the best vintages.
The Mormoreto of Castello di Nipozzano shines in an impenetrable ruby red in the glass. The nose reveals a complex and multi-layered bouquet, with aromas of red berries, blackberry and raspberry, floral notes of bergamot and jasmine, spicy nuances of dark cocoa, cocoa butter, roasted coffee beans, a hint of vanilla, cloves and earl grey. The taste is overwhelmingly opulent, full-bodied and refined. On the palate it is fresh, complex and elegantly balanced in acidity and alcohol, with very well integrated tannins, full-bodied and velvety structure. Fine notes of wild berries, liquorice, vanilla and peat linger in a long and persistent finish.
Vinification of the Mormoreto of Castello di Nipozzano by Frescobaldi
This unique red wine from the Chianti Rufina wine growing region near Florence, in northern Tuscany, is a cuvée of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Sangiovese and Petit Verdot since its first appearance. These grape varieties have been native to this region since the 19th century and have found ideal conditions for terroir and climate.
After the manual harvest, the grape varieties are fermented separately for 35 days in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, macerated and left on the skins for a further 20 days. The alcoholic fermentation is immediately followed by malolactic fermentation. The cuvée is then aged for 24 months in partly new, partly used barriques for the second time and then aged in the bottle for a further 6 months.
Food pairing for the Mormoreto of Castello di Nipozzano by Frescobaldi
This opulent, sumptuos and long-lasting top quality wine of the Frescobaldi family goes excellently with well cooked, stewed meat dishes, roasts and meat with sauce, but also perfectly with mature cheese. Enjoy it solo, as a sensual meditation wine and as the culmination of a successful day.
