The Poggio al Vento Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG from Col d'Orcia presents itself in the glass in a deep, dark ruby red, revealing its magnificent and intense bouquet. This is carried by the typical varietal aromas of ripe red fruit (cherries and plums) and is accompanied by spicy notes, which this Brunello owes to its long ageing in oak.
This red wine from Tuscany is both powerful and elegant on the palate. Its soft and ripe tannins harmonize perfectly with the pleasant acidity and lead into a long, fruity finish.
Vinification for the Poggio al Vento Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG from Col d'Orcia
The grapes from this Sangiovese were harvested and selected by hand before being fermented at a controlled temperature of 28° Celsius in stainless steel tanks. The malolactic fermentation that followed the maceration took place in concrete vats, from which the wine was transferred directly into oak barrels.
The Poggio al Vento Brunello di Montalcino Riserva matured for 4 years in French and Slavonian oak barrels before being refined for 2 years in the bottle.
