More information about Rüdesheimer Berg Schlossberg Riesling GG - Weingut Josef Leitz
The Rüdesheimer Berg Schlossberg Riesling GG from Weingut Josef Leitz in the Rheingau reveals a bright, pale yellow color in the wine glass. After the first swirl, this white wine shows an excellent balance, as it does not appear watery nor syrupy or liqueur-like on the glass walls. The first nose of the Rüdesheimer Berg Schlossberg Riesling GG presents notes of apple, peach, pear and mirabelle. In addition to the fruity aspects of the bouquet, notes from barrel aging, such as even more fruity-balsamic nuances, are added.
This German wine impresses with its straightforward dry taste profile. It was bottled with 4.4 grams of residual sugar. This is a genuine quality wine that clearly sets itself apart from simpler qualities and thus, despite all its dryness, this German wine delights with the finest balance. Aroma does not necessarily require a lot of residual sugar. On the palate, this well-balanced white wine is characterized by an immensely crisp texture. Thanks to its present acidity, the Rüdesheimer Berg Schlossberg Riesling GG appears wonderfully fresh and lively on the palate. The finish of this youthful white wine from the Rheingau region, more precisely from Rüdesheim, is finally impressive with a remarkable length. The aftertaste is also accompanied by mineral notes from the loess and limestone-dominated soils.
Vinification of Weingut Josef Leitz Rüdesheimer Berg Schlossberg Riesling GG
This wine clearly focuses on a single grape variety, namely Riesling. For this exceptionally balanced single-variety wine from Weingut Josef Leitz, only the best grapes were used. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in the Rheingau. Here, the vines sink their roots deep into limestone and loess soils. It is obvious that the Rüdesheimer Berg Schlossberg Riesling GG is also defined by more than just the soils of Rüdesheim. This German wine can literally be described as an Old World wine that presents itself in an extraordinarily impressive manner. The development of the grapes for this Riesling wine is influenced to a not inconsiderable extent by the climate of the growing region. In the Rheingau, the grapes thrive in a rather cool climate, which is reflected, among other things, in particularly long and even clusters and a rather moderate must weight. After hand-picking, the grapes are brought to the press house as quickly as possible. There they are selected and gently crushed. This is followed by fermentation in large wooden casks at controlled temperatures. After fermentation has ended, the elegant Rüdesheimer Berg Schlossberg Riesling GG is aged for a few more months in oak barrels.
