The Rüdesheimer Drachenstein Riesling Auslese from the Rheingau wine-growing region presents itself in the glass with a brilliantly shimmering light yellow. At the core, this white wine shows a beautiful golden-yellow color. When you swirl the glass, this white wine is characterized by a delightful lightness that lets it dance nimbly in the glass. The bouquet of this white wine from the Rheingau impresses with notes of fig and mango. Following the aromatics further, passion fruit, citrus fruits, and papaya appear.
The Rüdesheimer Drachenstein Riesling Auslese can rightly be described as exceptionally fruit-driven and velvety, as it has been vinified with a wonderfully sweet flavor profile. On the palate, the texture of this light-footed white wine is delightfully crisp. Due to its pronounced acidity, the Rüdesheimer Drachenstein Riesling Auslese appears exceptionally fresh and lively on the palate. The finish of this matured white wine from the Rheingau region, more precisely from Rüdesheim, finally captivates with a remarkable length. The aftertaste is also accompanied by mineral notes from the limestone and loess soils that dominate the vineyards.
Vinification of the Rüdesheimer Drachenstein Riesling Auslese by Weingut Josef Leitz
The basis for the elegant Rüdesheimer Drachenstein Riesling Auslese from Germany is grapes of the Riesling variety. In the Rheingau, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on limestone and loess soils. The Rüdesheimer Drachenstein Riesling Auslese is an Old World wine through and through, as this German wine exudes an exceptional European charm that clearly underscores the success of wines from the Old World. A not insignificant influence on the ripening of the grapes is also the fact that the Riesling grapes thrive under the influence of a rather cool climate. This is expressed, among other things, in particularly long and evenly ripening grapes and a rather moderate alcohol content in the wine. After the harvest, the grapes are brought to the winery as quickly as possible. There, they are selected and gently crushed. This is followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. The vinification is followed by maturation for several months on the fine lees before the wine is finally bottled.
