More information about Steinsatz - Markus Schneider
The Steinsatz from the Pfalz, matured in barrel, offers a dense purplish red in the glass. With a slight tilt, the Bordeaux glass reveals a charming garnet-red tone at the rim. This German Bordeaux-style cuvée flatters the nose with wonderfully expressive notes of morello cherries, mulberries, blueberries and black cherries. In addition, there are hints of cinnamon, oriental spices and gingerbread spice.
This red wine from Markus Schneider is exactly the right choice for all lovers of absolutely dry wines. On the palate, the texture of this powerful red wine presents itself as wonderfully velvety and fleshy. On the finish, this well-ageworthy red wine from the Pfalz finally delights with considerable length. Once again, nuances of morello cherry and black currant appear. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the marl- and sand-dominated soils are added.
Vinification of the Steinsatz by Markus Schneider
The basis for the first-class and wonderfully powerful Steinsatz cuvée by Markus Schneider is Cabernet Franc and Merlot grapes. In the Pfalz, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of sand and marl as well as gravel and stones. The vines belong to the oldest plantings of the estate. Once perfect physiological ripeness is ensured, the grapes for the Steinsatz are harvested exclusively by hand, without the help of coarse and less selective mechanical harvesters. After harvesting, the grapes are brought to the press house as quickly as possible. There they are selected and gently crushed. This is followed by fermentation in large wooden vats at controlled temperatures. After fermentation, the wine matures for several months in oak barrels.
Food recommendation for Schneider Steinsatz
Ideally, enjoy this red wine from Germany at a temperature of 15 - 18°C as an accompaniment to boiled veal topside with beans and tomatoes or to mildly spiced Moroccan lamb dishes.
