The Vera Cruz Pinotage from Delheim fills the glass with a strong dark color. The top wine from the house Delheim inspires the nose with fruity aromas of black cherry and mulberry peppered with a hint of chocolate. In the mouth, this South African pours full and juicy, with a dreamy length before closing with the round finish.
The Vera Cruz Pinotage was named after Spatz's (owner) wife, Vera, who tirelessly assists him and has played a significant role in Delheim's success. However, some scoff that the name Vera Cruz, meaning Vera's cross, is an allusion to the toil and drudgery she has had to bear since her marriage to Spatz.
Vinification for the Vera Cruz
Hand harvest in the vineyard. Natural fermentation at low temperatures. The pomace was pumped over several times a day. Aging took place in oak barrels (of which 35% new barrels) for 16 months.

We recommend this red wine from Stellenbosch to braised veal cheeks but also to sauerbraten and game dishes.
