More information about Widder Grauburgunder - Weingut Hörner
With the Weingut Hörner Widder Grauburgunder, a first-class vegan white wine finds its way into the well-polished wine glass. It offers a wonderfully dense, copper-golden color. The nose of this white wine from the Palatinate enchants with hints of orange marmalade, honeydew melon and pear compote. Following the aroma further, almond and mineral notes are added, enhanced by the influence of oak.
This wine impresses with its elegantly dry flavor profile. It was bottled with 4.1 grams of residual sugar. As one would expect from a wine, this German wine, despite all its dryness, delights with the finest balance. Aroma does not necessarily require a lot of residual sugar. On the palate, this powerful white wine is characterized by an incredibly dense and velvety texture. Thanks to its lively acidity, Widder Grauburgunder reveals itself on the palate as exceptionally fresh and vibrant. On the finish, this well-aging wine from the Palatinate wine-growing region finally thrills with extraordinary length. Once again, hints of honeydew melon and orange marmalade appear. In the aftertaste, mineral notes from the loess and clay-dominated soils join in.
Vinification of the Widder Grauburgunder from Weingut Hörner
This wine clearly focuses on a single grape variety, namely Pinot Gris (Grauburgunder). Only first-class grapes were harvested for this exceptionally powerful varietal wine from Weingut Hörner. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in the Palatinate. Here, the vines drive their roots deep into soils of clay and loess. The grapes for this white wine from Germany are harvested exclusively by hand when they are perfectly ripe. After harvesting, the grapes are immediately taken to the winery. There they are sorted and gently crushed. Fermentation then takes place in small wooden barrels at controlled temperatures. After fermentation is complete, the powerful Widder Grauburgunder is matured for several months in French oak barrels.
