The Tenuta Del Meriggio Aglianico Irpinia presents itself to the wine drinker pleasantly dry. This red wine never appears rough or austere, but rather round and smooth. On the palate, the texture of this well-balanced red wine is wonderfully crisp, silky, fleshy, and dense. The finish of this red wine from the Campania wine region ultimately convinces with a lovely aftertaste. The finish is also accompanied by mineral notes from the clay- and sand-dominated soils.
Vinification of the Aglianico Irpinia from Tenuta Del Meriggio
This red wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, namely Aglianico. Only first-class grape material was used for this wonderfully balanced varietal wine from Tenuta Del Meriggio. In Campania, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of clay and sand. After the grape harvest, the grapes are quickly brought to the press house. There they are selected and gently crushed. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. After fermentation, the wine matures for several months on the fine lees before it is finally drawn off.
Food recommendation for the Aglianico Irpinia from Tenuta Del Meriggio
This Italian should ideally be enjoyed at a temperate 15–18°C. It is perfect as an accompanying wine to boeuf bourguignon, fried calf’s liver with apples, onions and balsamic sauce, or goose breast with ginger red cabbage and marjoram.
