More information about Cuvée Wilhelm - Weingut Wageck

The Cuvée Wilhelm is a special piece of winemaking art from the house of Wageck. Aged in French barriques, this brings the grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Saint Laurent to a climax.

With a dark and dense red hue that shines like a ruby, this wine appears in the glass. This red wine immediately exudes an expressive aroma of sun-ripened blackberries and juicy morello cherries - perfectly accented by a light vanilla note and herbal spice from the barrel. On the palate, this German red wine has a thick, charming texture.  Powerful, the juicy tannins show through and lead into a very long finish, with hints of subtle spice mixed in.

Vinification of the Wageck Cuvée Wilhelm

The cuvée named Wilhelm comes from the Bissersheimer Goldberg and Großkarlbacher Burgweg sites. Together, they have a high proportion of limestone. But loess soils and gravel portions are also present.

From the beginning to the end of October, the grapes for this red wine are carefully harvested by hand. Then the mash is fermented spontaneously in the Wageck winery. Afterwards this still young wine matures in French barriques from 1st and 2nd occupancy.

Food recommendation for the Cuvée Wilhelm from Wageck

This dry red wine from Germany goes wonderfully with medium roasted saddle of veal, duck breast, game, chocolate dishes and mature cheese. But also solo this red wine knows how to convince. We strongly recommend decanting this red wine.
