More information about Ghenos Primitivo di Manduria DOC - Torrevento

The Ghenos Primitivo di Manduria from Torrevento in the Italian wine-growing region of Apulia is a full-bodied, pure and aromatic red wine.

In the glass, this wine shines a deep ruby red with garnet highlights. The nose delights with an intense, full bouquet that reveals lush aromas of juicy Amarena cherries, candied orange peel, floral notes of roses and spicy-vegetable nuances of leather, coffee and vanilla. On the palate, this Italian red wine impresses with a wonderfully tightly woven tannin structure that wonderfully complements the full body. The aromas of the nose are also reflected and harmonize very well with the interplay of acidity and sweetness. The finish has a pleasant length and chocolaty nuances.

Vinification of Torrevento Ghenos

The grapes for this single-varietal Primitivo grow in Apulia - the DOC Primitivo di Manduria wine region. The vines grow on clayey soils.

The grapes are harvested in mid-September and immediately taken to the Torrevento wine cellar. There, the grapes are first fermented in stainless steel tanks. This is followed by a maceration period. Once the fermentation process is complete, this red wine is matured for 10 months in stainless steel tanks - followed by 6 months in barrique barrels. Finally, this wine rounds off harmoniously in the bottle before leaving the winery.

Dining recommendations for the Primitivo Torrevento Ghenos
