More information about Occhetti Nebbiolo Langhe DOC - Prunotto

In the glass, the Occhetti Nebbiolo Langhe from Prunotto offers a dense ruby red color. When swirling the wine glass, this red wine reveals a high level of density and richness, which can be seen in clear stained glass windows at the edge of the glass. This single-varietal Italian wine flatters the glass with wonderfully elegant notes of lilies, blueberries, mulberries and blackberries. There are also hints of cocoa bean, cinnamon and vanilla.

The Prunotto Occhetti Nebbiolo Langhe is wonderfully dry for wine lovers. This red wine is never coarse or austere, as you would expect from a top-quality wine. On the palate, the texture of this powerful red wine is wonderfully silky and melting. On the finish, this storable red wine from the Piedmont wine-growing region impresses with its considerable length. Once again, there are hints of lilac and blackberry. Mineral notes from the marl and gravel-dominated soils are added to the finish.

Vinification of the Prunotto Occhetti Nebbiolo Langhe

The powerful Occhetti Nebbiolo Langhe from Italy is a single-varietal wine made from the Nebbiolo grape variety. In Piedmont, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of sand, limestone, clay, gravel and marl. Without question, the Occhetti Nebbiolo Langhe is also determined by the climate and the Langhe DOC winegrowing style. This Italian wine can be described as an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, presenting itself with exceptional elegance. The fact that the Nebbiolo grapes thrive in a rather cool climate also has an undeniable influence on the ripening of the grapes. Among other things, this results in particularly long and even grapes and a rather moderate alcohol content in the wine. When they are perfectly ripe, the grapes for the Occhetti Nebbiolo Langhe are harvested exclusively by hand without the help of coarse and less selective harvesters. After harvesting, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. This is followed by fermentation in large oak barrels at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by maturation for 22 months in oak barrels. Ageing in wooden barrels is followed by considerable bottle ageing, which makes this red wine even more complex.

Dining recommendations for the Occhetti Nebbiolo Langhe from Prunotto

This red wine from Italy is best enjoyed at 15 - 18°C as an accompaniment to a potato pan with salmon, duck breast with sugar snap peas or Thai cucumber salad.
