Back then, no one would ever have expected this wine to become so successful one day, recall Franz Sinn and Luis Raifer. Sinn was the cellar master and Raifer chairman and managing director of the Schreckbichl winery. It was in 1978 when Karl Nicolussi-Leck, then a member of the winery’s supervisory board, initiated the idea for the wine. Nicolussi-Leck had old vines of the Pfefferer grape growing in his vineyards not far from the winery and asked at the winery whether a wine of its own could be created from these grapes. No sooner said than done: in 1979 the first bottles bearing the name “Pfefferer” came onto the market, though still in small quantities at that time.
"Pfefferer" in rosé! A wine with a seductively aromatic fragrance and a rosy hue. Aromas of red fruits such as strawberries with delicate peach and spice notes followed by an uplifting nuance are typical of this flattering wine for the palate.
This is a genuine quality wine that clearly stands out from simpler qualities and so, despite all its dryness, this Italian naturally delights with the finest balance. A fresh wine with an appealing, aromatic fragrance and a bright rosé tone. Aromas of red berries such as strawberry and delicate peach and spice notes followed by a stimulating play of acidity are typical of this palate-caressing wine. With the Kellerei Schreckbichl Pfefferer Pink, a first-class rosé wine finds its way into the swirled glass. In it, it displays a wonderfully brilliant, pale pink color. This Italian wine captivates with its elegantly dry flavor profile. Light-footed and multi-layered, this crisp rosé presents itself on the palate. Thanks to its pronounced fruit acidity, Pfefferer Pink appears impressively fresh and lively on the palate. The finish of this youthful rosé wine from the Trentino-Alto Adige winegrowing region finally impresses with an exceptional length. The aftertaste is also accompanied by mineral notes from the sand- and limestone-dominated soils.
Vinification of Pfefferer Pink from Kellerei Schreckbichl
This elegant rosé wine from Italy is vinified from the grape varieties Merlot, Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Trentino-Alto Adige. Here the vines sink their roots deep into soils of sand and limestone. After the harvest, the grapes are brought to the winery as quickly as possible. There they are selected and gently crushed. After a short maceration period, the red and white grapes are pressed and the must is fermented in stainless steel tanks. This is followed by a further maturation phase on the fine lees.
