The Sabazio Rosso di Montepulciano DOC by La Braccesca is intensely ruby red with violet tendencies. Fresh fruity and floral notes surprise the nose, especially violets and red currants. On the palate, the red sabazio from Montepulciano impresses with its fine, elegant and aromatic taste, its lively freshness, its fruity notes and round, sweet tannins, which leave a harmonious and lasting impression. The finale is long and appealing.

Vinification of the Sabazio Rosso di Montepulciano DOC of La Braccesca

The name of the wine is reminiscent of a monk of the Abbey of Omntepulciano, commonly called Sabazio, who was the first in the Middle Ages to give hints about viticulture in the region. The typical freshness of the indigenous Sangiovese grape variety combines in this wine with the inviting fruitiness of Merlot, together they are a symbol of the ancient wine-growing region of Montepulciano.

The harvest of Sangiovese and Merlot grapes takes place in succession at the end of September, beginning of October, depending on the maturity. In the wine cellar, the grapes are destemmed and gently pressed, the must is then filled into stainless steel tanks in which the temperature-controlled fermentation takes place. This way, the aromatic properties of the grape varieties are best preserved. After separation from the pomace, the wine comes in stainless steel tanks for malolactic fermentation and subsequent ageing over four months. In the spring of the following year, it is bottled and sold.
