More information about Schlatter Spätburgunder SW - Martin Waßmer

With the Martin Waßmer Schlatter Spätburgunder SW, a first-class red wine makes its way into the glass. It reveals a wonderfully bright, light red color. When the glass is swirled, the first nose of the Schlatter Spätburgunder SW reveals nuances of blueberries, blackberries and morello cherries. Notes from barrel aging such as cinnamon, cocoa bean and oriental spices join the fruity aspects of the bouquet.

On the palate, Martin Waßmer’s Schlatter Spätburgunder SW opens wonderfully aromatic, fruit-driven and balanced. Thanks to its balanced acidity, the Schlatter Spätburgunder SW caresses the palate with a velvety mouthfeel without sacrificing freshness.

Vinification of Martin Waßmer Schlatter Spätburgunder SW

This wine clearly focuses on a single grape variety, namely Pinot Noir (Spätburgunder). Only first-class grapes were used for this wonderfully balanced varietal wine from Martin Waßmer. In Baden, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on limestone and loess soils. At optimal ripeness, the grapes for the Schlatter Spätburgunder SW are harvested exclusively by hand, without the use of coarse and less selective mechanical harvesters. After harvesting, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house, where they are sorted and gently crushed. Fermentation then takes place in small wooden barrels at controlled temperatures. Vinification is followed by maturation for several months in French barriques.

Food recommendation for Martin Waßmer Schlatter Spätburgunder SW

This German wine is best enjoyed at a temperature of 15 - 18°C. It pairs perfectly with spinach gratin with almonds, vegetable couscous with beef meatballs, or boiled veal brisket with beans and tomatoes.
