With Mandrarossa Sentiero delle Gerle Etna Rosso, a top-quality red wine, is poured into the glass. It offers a wonderfully luminous, ruby-red color. When you tilt the glass slightly, a transition of color towards garnet red is visible at the edges of this barrel-aged wine. Swirling the glass, you can perceive a perfect balance in this red wine, as it shows neither watery nor syrupy or liqueur-like tendencies on the glass walls. This single-varietal Italian wine gently caresses the palate with expressive notes of blueberries, blackberries, black currants, and mulberries. Additionally, hints of dark chocolate, cocoa bean, and cinnamon accompany these flavors.
On the palate, Mandrarossa Sentiero delle Gerle Etna Rosso opens with a wonderfully aromatic, fruity, and balanced profile. It is dry and truly dry. This red wine belongs to the latter, as it was bottled with only 0.6 g of residual sugar. The dense red wine presents itself as well-balanced and multi-faceted on the palate. The finish delights with notable length, showcasing the wine's good aging potential. Again, hints of blueberry and mulberry emerge. In the aftertaste, mineral notes from the volcanic soil are also present.
Vinification of Mandrarossa Sentiero delle Gerle Etna Rosso
The foundation of the balanced Sentiero delle Gerle Etna Rosso from Sicily are grapes from the Nerello Mascalese variety. In Sicily, the vines producing the grapes for this wine grow in volcanic soil. The Sentiero delle Gerle Etna Rosso is an Old World wine through and through, exuding an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of wines from the Old World. After manual harvest, the grapes are quickly transferred to the winery, where they are selectively and gently crushed. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks and small wooden barrels at controlled temperatures. This fermentation is followed by several months of aging on fine lees before the wine is finally bottled.
