Vinification of the Contrada Sciaranuova Etna Rosso from Tenuta Tascante

The position of the vineyard on the north side of the Etna volcano, in the municipality of Randazzo, offers ideal conditions for growing the Nerello Mascalese grape. The soil consists of volcanic sediments of various formations, created between 4,000 and 40,000 years ago, providing excellent drainage and a unique mineralogy that is reflected in the complexity and intensity of the wines.

 The vinification  follows traditional methods with a fermentation temperature of 25-30°C over a period of 8 days. After complete malolactic fermentation, the wine matures for 12 months, 90% in 25-hectoliter barrels made of Dalmatian oak and 10% in 300-liter tonneaux of French oak from the second and third passages. This careful aging process helps preserve and refine the wine’s characteristic structure and fine aromas.
