More information about Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC - Tenuta Ulisse

Montepulciano d'Abruzzo from Tenuta Ulisse presents itself in the glass with an intense ruby red, shot through with garnet reflections. A complex and multi-layered bouquet unfolds with intense and fruity aromas of red berries such as blackberries and blueberries, complemented by hints of black cherry. These notes are underpinned by subtle floral hints and nuances of caramel and dark chocolate.

On the palate, this well-balanced red wine from Abruzzo is juicy and smooth. Tenuta Ulisse Montepulciano is full-bodied but not too heavy and delights with its well-balanced acidity and great structure.

Vinification of Tenuta Ulisse Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC

The single-varietal wines from Ulisse impressively demonstrate what fantastic aromas and flavors can arise when indigenous grape varieties grow on the soils that are ideal for them. This red wine consists of 100% Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. The origin of this grape variety has not been clearly established to this day, but it has always been cultivated in Abruzzo and in central and southern Italy. Thanks to the passion of several winemakers, Montepulciano d'Abruzzo grapes are now among the best bases for excellent red wines.

The selective hand harvest is carried out in 10 kg containers. Cooled with dry ice, the grapes reach the winery undamaged. There they are selected again to ensure absolutely delicious harvested fruit. The grapes are cooled down to -5°C within 3 minutes using nitrogen. This breaks down the cell structure and promotes extraction, which explains the intense, fascinatingly fresh and fruity aromatics of this wine. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by maturation in the same tanks for a period of 4 months.
