Governo Toscano Toscana Rosso IGT - Poggio delle Faine

The Governo Toscana IGT from Poggio delle Faine presents itself in a deep violet color with a powerful bouquet. The concentrated aromas range from violet notes, red berries, ripe plums and raisins to spicy notes and Mediterranean herbs. This Italian red wine impresses with a full, pleasing body on the palate and the use of dried berries gives it structure and an elegant residual sweetness that harmonizes wonderfully with the dry tannins of this young red wine.

Vinification of the Governo Toscano from Minini

This red wine is considered a true Tuscan wine rarity due to its special production technique, the Governo method. In this process, 10% of the grapes used for the wine are left on the vine for a further three to four weeks, where they dry naturally. The Canaiolo Nero and Colorino grape varieties are used for this because of their color intensity and because they are very resistant to rot. They are not harvested and pressed until the end of November. The resulting must is then added to the already fermented wine, which initiates malolactic fermentation. The result is a rich, color-intensive wine of exceptional quality and unique taste.
