More information about Lagrein - Kellerei Schreckbichl

The elegant Lagrein from the Schreckbichl winery comes into the glass with a bright purple-red color. The bouquet of this red wine from Trentino-Alto Adige delights with nuances of gooseberry and white currant. If we explore the aromas further, cocoa bean, oriental spices and cinnamon are added, boosted by the oak wood influence.

This dry red wine from Kellerei Schreckbichl is something for wine lovers who can't drink their wine dry enough. The Lagrein comes very close to this, as it was pressed with just 3.9 grams of residual sugar. The texture of this well-balanced red wine is wonderfully dense on the palate. Thanks to the balanced fruit acidity, the Lagrein flatters the palate with a soft sensation without lacking in juicy liveliness. The finish of this red wine from the Trentino-Alto Adige wine-growing region impresses with its exceptional persistence. The finish is also accompanied by mineral notes from the soils dominated by limestone and sand.

Vinification of Kellerei Schreckbichl Lagrein

The basis for the balanced Lagrein from Trentino-Alto Adige are grapes from the Lagrein grape variety. In Trentino-Alto Adige, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on sand and limestone soils. After being harvested by hand, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. Fermentation then takes place in concrete and large wood at controlled temperatures. At the end of this process, the Lagrein is matured for several months in Slavonian oak barrels.

Dining recommendations for the Lagrein from Kellerei Schreckbichl

This Italian red wine is best enjoyed moderately chilled at 15 - 18°C. It is the perfect accompaniment to boeuf bourguignon, duck breast with sugar snap peas or stuffed peppers
