More information about Lagrein - Popphof
The Lagrein matured in barrels from the wine region of Trentino-Alto Adige appears in the glass in a luminous purplish red. This pure Italian wine reveals wonderfully fragrant notes of currant, blackberry, sour cherry, and plum in the glass. Additionally, hints of chocolate are present.
On the palate, the Popphof Lagrein begins wonderfully aromatic, fruity, and balanced. This well-balanced red wine is distinguished by an incredibly robust texture on the tongue. The finish of this red wine from the Trentino-Alto Adige wine region impresses with an extraordinary aftertaste. The finish is also complemented by mineral facets of the clay-dominated soils.
Vinification of Popphof Lagrein
This balanced Italian red wine is vinified from the Lagrein grape variety. In Trentino-Alto Adige, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on clay soils. When they are perfectly ripened, the grapes for the Lagrein are harvested exclusively by hand without the use of strenuous and less selective grape harvesters. After the harvest, the grapes are quickly taken to the press house. Here, they are sorted and gently crushed. Following this, fermentation takes place in small wood vessels at controlled temperatures. The vinification is followed by several months of aging on fine lees before the wine is ultimately bottled.
