More information about Merlot - Battistotti
The elegant Merlot from Battistotti pours into the glass with a radiant purplish red. This single-varietal Italian wine shows wonderfully complex notes of plum, blackberry, sour cherry, and currant in the glass. These are accompanied by hints of basil.
On the palate, Battistotti’s Merlot opens wonderfully dry, firm, and aromatic. On the palate, the texture of this well-balanced red wine presents itself as delightfully silky, velvety, and dense. The finish of this red wine from the Trentino-Alto Adige wine-growing region, more precisely from Trentino DOC, is ultimately impressive with a lovely aftertaste. The finish is also accompanied by mineral nuances from the clay-dominated soils.
Vinification of the Merlot by Battistotti
The basis for this balanced Merlot from Trentino-Alto Adige is grapes of the Merlot variety. In Trentino-Alto Adige, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on clay soils. After harvesting, the grapes are quickly brought to the press house. There they are selected and gently crushed. This is followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks and concrete at controlled temperatures. After fermentation, the wine is aged for a few months on the fine lees before it is finally bottled.
Food recommendation for the Merlot by Battistotti
This Italian wine is best enjoyed at a tempered 15–18°C. It is perfect as an accompaniment to stuffed bell peppers, boeuf bourguignon, or braised chicken in red wine.
