I really liked this wine when I was eating in a restaurant in Amsterdam, so I was happy to be able to order it from here. The wine I got was the same one that I wanted. It tastes very nice and sweet. Perfect for to just to enjoy a glass of wine in the evening (or any other time).

More information about Montej Rosso Monferrato DOC - Villa Sparina

The first nose of Montej Rosso Monferrato presents nuances of mulberries, blueberries and blackcurrants. The fruity parts of the bouquet are joined by even more fruity-balsamic nuances.

On the palate, the Montej Rosso Monferrato from Villa Sparina opens wonderfully dry, grippy and aromatic. The texture of this balanced red wine is wonderfully melting on the palate. On the finish, this red wine from the Piedmont wine-growing region finally impresses with its considerable length. Once again, there are hints of blueberry and blackberry. In the finish, mineral notes from the clay and limestone-dominated soils are added.

Vinification of the Villa Sparina Montej Rosso Monferrato

This balanced red wine from Italy is made from the Barbera grape variety. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Piedmont. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into soils of limestone and clay. Once perfect physiological ripeness is ensured, the grapes for the Montej Rosso Monferrato are harvested exclusively by hand without the help of coarse and less selective harvesters. After the harvest, the grapes are transported to the press house as quickly as possible. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Vinification is followed by maturation on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally bottled.

Dining recommendations for Villa Sparina Montej Rosso Monferrato

This Italian red wine is best enjoyed at a temperature of 15 - 18°C. It is the perfect accompaniment to a spicy curry with lamb, red onions stuffed with couscous and apricots or lamb ragout with chickpeas and dried figs.
